7 Small Things That Can Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Article by Darlene Schacht

Hey… If you have any ideas on this topic that you’d like to share, or if you would just like to say hi, pop into the comment section and let me know that you’re reading. I’d love to hear from you!

Every once in a while, I pull up to someone’s house and it just feels right. There’s something about the entrance that draws me in. It’s not one particular thing really, it’s the small things that make a big difference. The subtle that’s simply sublime.

I’ve seen some extravagant articles on boosting curb appeal that are nice, but would cost far more than I’m willing to spend anytime soon. That’s not what we’re going for here. We’re going for affordable, beautiful and practical. And, we’re not planning on breaking the bank while we do it.

If you want to boost your curb appeal, and give your guests a warm welcome, here are 7 small things you can do:

1. Put out a welcome mat. A welcome mat is another ways of saying, “I’m glad that you’re here, friend.”

2. Paint your front door. All it takes is a little can of paint to transform a front door. And yet, this small step can make a huge difference in setting your house apart from the others.

3. Hang a wreath on the door. Wreaths have been around forever, and although they’ve changed their look over time they are still a great way to dress up a house. Here’s one I recently did. Click here to find the tutorial.

4. Put a tall porch sign out by the door. It used to be that welcome signs were just for businesses. Now we’re seeing them everywhere. The price on these are about $50.00 and up, but I just made my own for a fraction of the cost. Instead of the usual “Welcome” I went for “Home Sweet Home.” I’ll post a tutorial later this week along with the stencil I used, and the reason why I chose white.

5. Update your address numbers. There are all kinds of creative ways to update the numbers on your house. One of my favorite looks is stencilled numbers on a colored door. This really makes me want to change my door right now!

6. Plant some annuals. If there’s anything I learned from my mom it’s that annuals make for a beautiful yard. I’ve always leaned toward perennials because they’re easy and come back free every year, but they don’t give me the same fullness and color that perennials do. What I like to do now is have a mix of both.

7. Put potted plants near your door or by the walkway. It’s a beautiful way to welcome friends through your yard and into your home. Look how beautifully the flowers frame the entrance in this photo. I’m in love!

With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or
copyright violation? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a
lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without
my permission. Do you know any ways to help prevent content from being ripped off?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Great blog you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same
topics talked about here? I’d really love to be a part of
group where I can get suggestions from other experienced people that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
    Bless you!

After I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox
and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the
same comment. Is there a way you are able to remove me from that service?
    Thank you!
